Our
Mission

ReJoyce House of Refuge is a non-profit, 501(c)3, faith-based organization that exist to provide safe, transitional housing for women and their children trapped in domestic violence.  Our mission is to provide safe housing, counseling services, life skills training, spiritual development opportunities, childcare services, career development opportunities and financial education that will provide each woman the opportunities needed to establish their freedom and build a new life for themselves and their children.

Our
Vision

ReJoyce House of Refuge believes that healing the family will improve our community.  We aim to help rebuild the family by teaching our program participants the love of Jesus Christ and the price He paid to set them free. Through therapy and discipleship, we equip each woman with the skills needed to make healthy relationship choices and break the cycle of abuse.

Participants who complete our program leave with the knowledge, skills and support system needed to build and maintain a safe and stable environment for their families.  Women entering our program are encouraged to have and/or obtain gainful employment.  We encourage our participants to engage in career training programs that increase their employability in the labor market. Our program staff members assist our participants in navigating the local employment market to find jobs. Filling local job openings will reduce unemployment and assist in fulfilling prosperity efforts established for our community.

Our Story

Rejoyce House of Refuge Story

Founder Stacie Alcantara has always been passionate about helping those less fortunate than herself. As a Special Education Teacher, she understands firsthand how the lives of children from abusive homes are impacted. In 2019, Stacie envisioned providing housing for women and their children who are victims of domestic violence at her late grandmother's home, which had been vacant for years. It seemed like the perfect place.

Stacie reached out to a few women who shared her vision and invited them to lunch. Among them were Tammy Franklin and Judy Wolfe. As they sat together in the restaurant, Stacie saw her vision come to life. Together, they would reach out to help those in need and make a difference. Since Stacie's grandmother's name was Joyce, they decided to name their new mission "ReJoyce". Eventually, it would be known as a house of refuge.

In 2020, ReJoyce received its 501(c)(3) status, leading to the establishment of ReJoyce House of Refuge. Stacie's sister, Kristen Keene, a trauma therapist, played a key role in defining the organization's mission and vision. Her contributions were crucial to the founding of this small organization.

Later, the Redeemed MarketPlace Thrift Store was established to generate revenue for ReJoyce. Today, this small organization, which began with a vision and a few women having lunch together, has positively impacted the lives of many women in need. ReJoyce has funded hotels for women escaping abusive partners, provided clothing and household items to support these women, and offered countless emails and phone calls for encouragement. They have also provided counseling from certified therapists. More importantly, ReJoyce has shared the love of Jesus with those who desperately needed it.

Stacie asked God why He chose her to lead this ministry, and He simply replied back, "Because you said Yes". She no longer questions Him because she understands as her sister has said many times, "He doesn’t call the qualified, but qualifies the called".

ReJoyce has partnered with Operation Mandate to help spread the word of Jesus Christ in Africa. Operation Mandate and Rejoyce House of Refuge share similar visions to help women in need. As a non-profit serving the unreached in Africa, Operation Mandate’s mission school has multiple goals, including training and empowering women.

Even beyond the practical training is changing cultural mindsets that enlightens people to the value, honor, greatness, worth and purposes God has for women in all aspects of society.

Our Leadership Team

Our program leadership team is comprised of women serving in the education, finance and business management career fields. Although their backgrounds are diverse, their one shared asset is their love for Jesus Christ and their passion for helping those experiencing trauma brought about by domestic violence.
